Treatment for emotional disorders based on biomolecules contained in algae
Marine algae have an immense potential of original molecules of biological interest. The numerous biological activities of seaweed extracts show that they represent an interesting alternative to the use of drugs, particularly in the treatment or prevention of certain pathologies whose aetiology is associated with chronic inflammatory statuses, such as metabolic and mood disorders. A research partnership with two companies, the Ferme Marine du Douhet and Seprosys, has made it possible to produce algo-sourced active ingredients targeting inflammation and the mechanisms of alterations in emotional behaviour linked to metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes and obesity.
